Cable System

1. Install mounting brackets onto a solid surface high enough (at least 2”) so that the hembar will clear the top of the window.  Install one bracket approximately 6” in from each end with the remainder evenly spaced across the surface where the box will be mounted.

2. Mark the brackets and drill holes with a drill bit.  Mount brackets with flathead screws.

3. Remove the front lid of the box and hang rear onto brackets.  Center the box and then secure with the Allen screws on the lower part of the installation brackets.  If you have a hard time getting the box onto the brackets, look down the wall and make sure the wall is flat.  You might have to shim out the wall brackets or even bolt box directly to wall, omitting brackets entirely.

4. Within the box you will find a small “L” bracket with a hole drilled in the lower leg.  Make sure that the “L” bracket is positioned properly (the hole should be positioned directly above the hole in the nylon bottom bar guide).  If not adjust the position of the “L” bracket by loosening the nut and sliding it into the proper position prior to retightening.

5. Open the screen to its open position.  Mark on the wall the position of the center of the hole in the nylon bottom bar guide.  Measure down two inches and make another mark.  Position the cable bracket so that the top of the bracket is level with the lower mark and centered with the bottom bar guide hole.  Install this bracket utilizing screws of an appropriate size.

6. Slide one end of the cable through the “L” bracket hole and secure it by tying a not in the end above the bracket or crimping a sleeve onto the cable with a crimping tool.

7. Put the other end of the cable through the bottom bar guide hole and then through the bottom cable bracket.  Make sure that the guide is screwed in fully prior to tightening the set screw.  Tighten the cable using one hand and tighten the set screw with the other.  Adjust the tension by backing out the cable guide in the lower bracket.

8. Cut off surplus cable and you are done.
