BOX INSTALLATION (click for diagram)
PRESIDENT, ROBUSTA DROP & SOLETTE SCREENS
Exterior Operation
1. Install mounting brackets onto a solid surface high enough over the window from (at least 2”) so that the hembar will clear the top of the window and will not be visible from inside. Install one bracket approximately 6” in from each end with the remainder evenly spaced across the surface where the box will be mounted. Mark the brackets and drill holes with a drill bit. Mount brackets with flathead screws.
2. Remove the front lid of the box and hang rear onto brackets. Center the box and then secure with the Allen screws on the lower part of the installation brackets. If you have a hard time getting the box onto the brackets, look down the wall and make sure the wall is flat. You might have to shim out the wall brackets or even bolt box directly to wall, omitting brackets entirely.
3. Slide the tracks (if provided) onto the hembar guide pieces, and then attach the tracks to the box. HINT: Slide track at an angle onto the box projection and then twist the track into position.
4. Lower the screen all the way to the maximum drop desired and ensure that the tracks are both as vertical as possible. If unit is motorized, set bottom limit now. Then raise the hembar about 8” or more and position the track brackets approximately 4” up from the bottom of each track with the small set screws on the brackets toward the outsides. Mark their location and attach to wall. Then position the tracks and snap them onto the brackets. Lock the tracks down with the small set screws on the side of each bracket. If the unit is a “stand-off “ screen, attach one part of each 2-piece bracket to the wall and the other to the track. Then, attach the two parts of the brackets. Note: Longer tracks require additional brackets which should be evenly spaced. The hembar should have play in it to be able to move left and right slightly and not bind up inside the tracks.
5. Run the screen all the way up until the hembar is approximately ¼” below the box. If motorized, set your upper limit now. Then run the system up and down to make sure the fabric is not “walking” toward one end of roller tube and the unit runs smoothly with no binding. If the fabric is “walking”, place a 1”- 2” piece of duct tape on the end of the roller tube from which the fabric “walks” and test again. Repeat with additional layers as necessary until the walking is minimized.
6. Fit the front of box into slot on the top of the rear section and insert screw into each end cap. Now you’re done.
