Non-Boxed Exterior Shading Systems
with Side Cables

1. Determine the desired location to install the Side brackets and mark hole positions. In doing this remember that the brackets determine the height of the shade and the width must be appropriate to accomidate the roller tube with gearbox or motor.

2. Drill appropriate size holes in the marked positions, (for 3/8” lag bolts utilize a drill bit size of ¼”).

3. Attach the two brackets to the structure utilizing lag bolts of appropriate length to assure a secure attachment of the brackets to the structure.

4. Drill a small hole in the bottom of the installation bracket directly under the center of the roller tube to accommodate the upper end of the side cable using a 3/32-1/8” drill bit. The hole in the bracket should be positioned so that it is centered on the hole in the bottom bar guide which has a vertical hole in it through which the cable will pass. Note the position of the hole in the bottom bar guide should be directly below the bracket. If it is not it is required that you adjust the length of the bottom bar or attach the cable to the structure so that it is directly above the bottom bar guide hole.

5. Open the screen to its open position. Mark on the wall the position of the center of the hole in the nylon bottom bar guide. Measure down two inches and make another mark. Position the cable bracket so that the top of the bracket is level with the lower mark and centered with the bottom bar guide hole. Install this bracket utilizing screws of an appropriate size.

6. Slide one end of the cable through the bracket hole and secure it by tying a not in the end above the bracket or crimping a sleeve onto the cable with a crimping tool.

7. Put the other end of the cable through the bottom bar guide hole and then through the bottom cable bracket. Make sure that the guide is screwed in fully prior to tightening the set screw. Tighten the cable using one hand and tighten the set screw with the other. Adjust the tension by backing out the cable guide in the lower bracket.

8. Cut off surplus cable and you are done.
